SUMMARY:

  • BASED ON YEAR END WTA RANKINGS, AUSTRALIA HAS HAD 26 AUSTRALIAN DEVELOPED PLAYERS FINISH INSIDE THE TOP 200 IN THE WORLD IN THE PAST 20 YEARS

  • OUT OF THESE 26, 8 WERE ALSO TOP 100 PLAYERS (so far), HOWEVER THERE HAS ONLY BEEN 4 PLAYERS TRANSITION FROM TOP 200 TO TOP 100 IN THE PAST 20 YEARS (the other 4 transitioned in to the top 100 prior to 2001)

  • SOME OF THESE PLAYERS ARE STILL ACTIVE INSIDE THE TOP 200 BUT HAVE NOT YET CRACKED TOP 100

CONCLUSIONS:

  • BASED ON THESE STATISTICS, AN AUSTRALIAN FEMALE PLAYER HAS ABOUT A 15-20% CHANCE OF MAKING IT INTO THE TOP 100 ONCE THEY CRACK THE TOP 200

  • THE MORE TOP 200 FEMALE PLAYERS AUSTRALIA CAN DEVELOP, THE MORE PLAYERS IT WILL HAVE GO ON TO BE TOP 100
